Gaps Solitaire is played with a single deck of 52 cards that is dealt into 4 rows of 13 cards. The 2s are moved to the front of each row, and the Aces are removed to make gaps in the sequence of cards. The player moves cards around by shifting cards to these gaps, but only if the card being moved to the gap builds up from the card to the left of the gap, or builds down from the card to the right of the gap. As the player moves cards around, a sequence of cards from left to right begins to form. These cards become highlighted in yellow. The player may shuffle all the cards that are not highlighted up to 3 times in a single game. This allows the player to continue playing if cards become blocked by Kings, or because multiple gaps are adjacent to each other.
